November 2010 - Chops Turkey Bowl

Every Saturday Morning David used to play football with some guys from Church. He LOVED this activity as much as he loved playing with these guys on Wednesday nights at Basketball.

Dave wanted to play every Saturday and started sending out email reminders every week to drum up interest. I saw a few and they were pretty hilarious. Each one seemed to have his crazy sense of humor.

Here is one of the emails he sent. It's probably the last one he sent before he died. I love to read his past emails because they have so much of his personality in them. (I miss that personality!)

The Football email has risen from the ashes. This weekend is not a “go” due to lateness, questionable interest, and the camp-out. Expect more to come. I expect to play within the next couple of weeks.

P.S. We are giving away the attached antique couch (Edwardian Period) and a separate love seat. First come, please pick up, but call first.

P.P.S. We need help moving in the new old couch from the W (thanks E and D!) Will further advise.

P.P.P.S Sawasdee got a great review. Please see the following article:

Lastly, Please let me know if you want to be removed from this distribution

I went to Dave's blog and found  a blog post that he wrote about his Football adventures. Here it is...

A LITTLE SNOW AIN'T GONNA STOP US

Over this past weekend and yesterday it snowed - a lot. But, that didn't stop a few of us (Axel, Josh, Geo, Luis, and me) from playing football Saturday morning. Actually, there were 6 of us because some random kid named Franky walked up to us asking for a smoke, and we instead invited him to play. So, we had 3 on 3, and it was just right and it was a blast!

I love playing Football in the snow. There's just something about it. Maybe it’s because you can get tackled and it won’t hurt as much. Maybe it’s because your face freezes and you can’t feel your cheeks. Who knows???

When I was younger we used to have some great games down at the Rosey. When I was a little older we had some great games on the field across from the old DT.

Now we play at Library Field. I took a picture of the field before we started, but I forgot to get the after one, so I will have to wait until after tomorrow morning when we have the Christmas Eve Snow Bowl. I know that it's gonna be cold, but it's gonna be worth it!

Dave loved all the guys he played with and loved the time they spent on the field. It was an important part of his week. All of these guys came to the funeral and I was always touched because I knew it would have meant a lot to Dave.

On Thanksgiving Day the guys always played a Turkey Bowl. I knew it was coming up and it was kind of hard to think about it knowing that Dave would be missing it. He always talked about it for weeks before hand every year. It was part of his Thanksgiving Tradition.

Thanksgiving Day 2010 I was flying to Utah for my brothers wedding. My friend Ellen was flying out with me and said we had to stop at the Turkey Bowl. I was in complete surprise to see that all of the guys were wearing Chops Turkey Bowl Shirts to honor Dave. I think my heart may have skipped a beat. I was blown away to see the shirts and they even had a small one for Adler!

We took a "Team" photo and I had a chance to say a quick Thank You to everyone. Dave was always the more eloquent one when it came to public speaking. I think I was able to mumble a bit about how much it would have meant to Dave to be honored in this way.  The truth is that I don't think I have ever been able to express just how much this meant to me. I want to say again, Thank You. : )

Kisses for Daddy

One day I was walking through the dining room and noticed that Adler was talking to the pictures of Dave and giving them kisses. He even had a play date over that day and was showing the little girl pictures of Dave. It was really sweet. I snapped these pictures of Adler.

He still kisses Dave's pictures and has started giving the pictures of him hugs too. He loves and misses his Dad so much. Adler is just like Dave. Very loving and compassionate.

Halloween 2010

We had a lot of Halloween fun.
Here is Adler helping me with our trunk for trunk or Treat.

 Halloween Party
We went to a Halloween party in Cambridge. My brother sent Adler this costume so we could represent the Sooners!
Adler was the cutest little horse ever.

Woburn Halloween Parade
When we lived in Woburn the Parade was just down the street from us. We would always go. It was fun to take Adler again this year. We joined some of our friends and picked up lots of candy that was thrown our way.

 Halloween Night
We went Trick or Treating with our friends Camden and Darian. We just went up and down our street but it was a lot of fun and so cute to see Adler holding out his bag for candy.

Fall 2010 Happenings

Wilson Farms
I love Fall in New England. Dave and I loved going to Wilson Farms to pick up groceries and check out the free samples.  Adler and I loved to go ride the Halloween Hayride, get a treat from the bakery, and get some chocolate milk. Hmm...I could really go for some of their baked goods right now.

I made some carmel apples for my BUNCO group!
Jenn+Kitchen= Disaster
I was pretty proud of myself for the way these came out.

 Play dates!
We love these two!!

Fall 2010 - Wadsworth Cemetery

Wadsworth Cemetery is beautiful. Its an old New England country cemetery and it was established in 1627. There are headstones from 1627 to present day. I love it. It is very peaceful. Adler and I would visit Dave's grave every Friday. We would pick up flowers and then give them to Daddy. Adler and i would walk through the small cemetery.

I have seen wild turkey and wild deer in the cemetery. Across from Dave's grave is a grove of trees and then some wetlands. I can just picture Dave exploring that area. I'm sure its the first thing he would have done.

The cemetery is perfect and peaceful. It is the perfect place for Dave and eventually me. I love the trees, the stone wall, the history. I love it.
